My Therapeutic Philosophy
“The therapist is often the first safe witness.”
The humanistic foundation of my practice emphasises the importance of empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard.
I aim to offer a warm, genuine presence, creating an online environment in which you feel safe enough to explore both the challenges you face and the strengths you bring.
I believe that meaningful change often begins with feeling truly heard and understood, and I prioritise building a trusting therapeutic relationship as the basis for our work.
Being an integrative therapist means I draw from a range of therapeutic theories and methods rather than working exclusively within a single model. This flexibility allows me to tailor therapy to suit you.
What “Integrative” means in my practice.
“Self understanding is not a luxury, it is a turning point”.
Humanistic Integrative Therapy is an approach which combines ideas from several humanistic and relational therapies focusing to support the whole person rather than only on symptoms.
My approach is rooted in the belief that every person is unique, inherently valuable, capable of growth, and change when provided with the right therapeutic conditions.
I do not view therapy as a one-size-fits-all process. Instead, I see it as a collaborative and evolving relationship in which we work together to understand your experiences, explore what matters to you, and support you in moving toward a more meaningful and fulfilling way of living.
Relationships do not simply support therapy - they are therapy.
Therapeutic Experience
“To be understood is to belong”.
My background in Humanistic Integrative therapy places the client–therapist relationship at the centre of the work. A strong therapeutic bond is key to meaningful change.
At your own pace, we can begin to explore your thoughts, feelings, and emotions, allowing space for reflection and growth. When someone feels they have to translate themselves to be understood, safety disappears.
Often what clients are seeking isn’t simply insight, but a a space where their inner world can be spoken into existence without fear, or shame. When held, people stop performing and start arriving.
Sometimes, disturbances can appear before words are spoken. Sharing your experiences can bring a sense of relief. I believe struggles we all experience in life can have a positive outcome.
You don’t have to face these struggles on your own. It is less a matter of searching for a cure, and more of a way of helping the world becoming more liveable again.
Meet Costa
At the heart of my work is a deep respect for your individuality, autonomy, and lived experiences.
I believe that you are the expert on your own life, and my role here is not to direct or “fix” you, but to walk alongside you with compassion, curiosity, and of course professional insight.
Whether you have tried therapy before, or this is your first attempt, therapy with me is a space where you can speak your mind openly, reflect honestly, and gradually make sense of your own thoughts and emotions without that fear of being judged.
